Are You Lost? Have You Crashed? Are You Buried Under the Stresses of Life?
There is Hope in the Word of God!
Each of us is on a journey down a highway called life! This journey will take us in many different directions and our destinations, while seemingly endless, are very limited; and in the end we will all be on one of two paths. As an individual you will either choose to follow the road or path to the Lord or you will follow the well traveled highway of the world. This decision will determine your eternity; follow the Lord and spend eternity in Heaven, follow the world and spend eternity in Hell; your choice! Oh, and I might also add that indecision is a decision; but there is hope! The Bible records the words of God so that we might know Him and what He desires for our lives. In the Book of John a Pharisee (religious leader) named Nicodemus comes to Jesus by cover of darkness to ask a question. We find this account in chapter 3 of the Gospel of John…..
John 3:1–8 (NKJV) There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
So how does one become Born Again? Well it is really quite simple! As you read earlier, we are all on a journey and if we look in the Book of Romans the Apostle Paul guides us down the “Romans Road” to salvation. The “Romans Road” is a series of verses from the Book of Romans that explain how to be Born Again; and that road begins with Romans 3:23.
Romans 3:23 (NKJV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Every one of us has sinned, there is only one individual who has walked on this planet that was sinless and that was Jesus Christ. We are all sinners and the sooner we admit it the sooner we are able to see our need for a Savior. Our next stop is in Romans 6:23.
Romans 6:23 (NKJV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Each of us will one day die and our physical bodies will be laid to rest but our spirit will stand before the Lord. Our wages or what we deserve for our sinful lives is death. The death this scripture is speaking of is spiritual death; the death that can separate us from God. It is just like what took place when Adam ate the apple; he died a spiritual death and was separated from God. Our Heavenly Father cannot look upon sin because He is Holy so if we die apart from Him we will spend eternity in Hell. But, because we have a loving God He has made a way for us and we find that in Romans 5:8.
Romans 5:8 (NKJV) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, laid aside his position and came down from Heaven to be born as a baby and to live among us. He grew up among His people and at age 33 He began His ministry. Unfortunately, Jesus was not accepted as the Messiah by the Jews so in an attempt to stop His radical teachings they sentenced Him to death. He took all the sins of mankind upon Himself as He was crucified on the cross at Calvary. He willingly laid His life down and died on the cross so that we might live and on the third day He rose from the dead; just as He said He would. Jesus Christ paid the price for all of our sins; past, present, and future. Let’s take a look at Romans 10:9-10.
Romans 10:9–10 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
It is only through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ that we can be saved and spend eternity in heaven. We must repent and turn from our sin and go the other way. We can’t get into Heaven because of our good works (good deeds); we can’t get into Heaven because we attend a church; we can’t even get to Heaven cause we know somebody; it is only through the blood of Christ that we are forgiven and made acceptable before God. Next please read Romans 10:13 and see just how easy it is to establish that relationship with the God of the Universe.
Romans 10:13 (NKJV) For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
That’s right; all we have to do is call on Him! He loves us and desires a personal relationship with each and every one of us. If the Lord is knocking at your heart’s door just ask Him to come in and you will never be the same…..
Revelation 3:20 (NKJV) Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
If you would like to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior please pray this simple prayer:
Jesus, I know that I am a sinner who needs a Savior. I believe that you died for my sins and that you rose on the third day. Please forgive me, I repent of my sins and ask you to come and dwell in my heart. I accept your free gift of salvation and ask you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
If you prayed that prayer from your heart then you are a child of God. Welcome to the family! We would love to hear that you have accepted Christ as your Savior, please let us know and please come and visit us so that we can encourage you in your new faith. Being plugged into a church that teaches God’s Word will help you stay on the road and will prepare you for the bumps and yes, the curves that lie ahead. We look forward to meeting you. God Bless!
